About the Practice

Scott McCusker, M.D. is a Comprehensive Otolaryngologist and Facial Cosmetic Surgeon affiliated with Mercy Medical Group, Sacramento, California. He previously served 13 years as an active duty Air Force Otolaryngologist, including three years at Yokota Air Base, Japan, and a seven month deployment to Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan, in support of the war effort.

Dr McCusker’s practice is highly varied, and he treats a wide range of head and neck conditions including chronic sinusitis, head and neck cancer including thyroid cancer, reconstructive surgeries with skin grafting and/or locoregional flaps, and sleep apnea including the Inspire implant.

Specific to Facial Cosmetic Surgery, Dr McCusker’s primary interest is rhinoplasty, most commonly in combination with functional nasal surgery to improve nasal breathing. His aesthetic philosophy is to maximize balance and harmony with the rest of the face, delivering beautiful, natural looking, predictable results, while preserving or improving function. He is well versed in both primary and revision surgery, including complex revisions.

Dr McCusker has additional expertise in facial rejuvenation surgery including facelift, necklift, brow lift, blepharoplasty, and structural fat grafting, otoplasty including “incisionliess technique,” and is also pleased to provide gender-affirming facial surgery for transgender patients.

Dr McCusker is a passionate photographer, and is the lead author of the textbook, Mastering Medical Photography of the Head and Neck.

Dr McCusker is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology, and the American Board of Facial Cosmetic Surgery. He is honored to be currently serving on the Board of Trustees of the ABFCS.
